Family Group Sheets
A family group sheet is really just a list of “who begat who” and is an important staple of genealogy research. The entries usually include basic information of birth and death dates, parental lineage and siblings within the family unit. Important information to be sure, but a family group sheet doesn’t in itself tell the story of who each of them were, only a method of keeping track of who belongs to who!! Use it as a reference point in tandem with the blogposts, where the real stories are! As I work through each family, more group sheets will be added.

This photo exemplifies the extended family of my great grandparents, Martin and Sarah McIntire. I discovered this photo quite by accident while researching on Ancestry. Instantly recognizing Martin (on the far left) and his wife Sarah Bridges McIntire (on the far right) dressed in their iconic fashion of the day! After some investigation, including reaching out to cousins Audrey Kramer and John Miller, it was determined to be the occasion of Jesse and Etta Jones Donlavy preparing to leave Colorado for a new life in Oregon. Etta was the daughter of Zaccheus Isaac “ZI” Jones and Anna Bridges Jones, Sarah’s sister. From left to right is Martin Luther McIntire, ZI Jones, unknown man, Myrtle Jones Black, unknown woman, Anna Bridges Jones and Sarah Bridges McIntire. The small boy with Anna is her nephew, Floyd Hall Bridges whom they raised after his mother Ida Catherine Hall Bridges passed away. Jesse and Etta Jones Donlavy are seated on the wagon. There will be future posts introducing many of the important families including those in this photo as they too have been intricately woven into our McIntire history!
Photo was taken before 1910 in Olathe, Colorado.
