WELCOME TO MACINTYRE JOURNEYS!!
This website is dedicated to the journey of our Macintyre ancestor Alexander McIntyre who bravely left his homeland and family in Scotland to seek a better life in America. What began as his personal quest became the hundreds of aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, siblings and children that we all recognize, love and call our family. Without his bravery, we would not “be”. But we are here and my desire is for these pages of Macintyre Journeys be a place to reflect, remember and revisit those precious and cherished memories of those gone before. I would love to hear your thoughts and memories as well. There is a Contact Me link at the bottom for you to contribute your thoughts and memories. (recipes are a bonus!)
I look forward to taking this journey together!!
About Me
I am the 4th great granddaughter of our Scottish immigrant grandfather, Alexander McIntyre. Perhaps out of curiosity I have sought to know more of my family history for many years. Thanks to online research companies such as Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.com and others, in addition to the hard work done by past family members, a broader and sharper picture of our family history has came into focus. Not being satisfied with just a list of birth and death dates or photos of headstones, the desire to tell their individual stories of how they lived their lives on this earth became my passion.
I am a violinist, gardener, quilter, Scots Gaelic learner, grandma of eight, wife and mother, but certainly not an website builder!! Without being deterred by that truth, I began to figure out how this abominable thing called website building works. Folks, the struggle is real, present tense intended!! But here we are, and in spite of the awkward margins, weird links and overuse of borders and blurring, my hope is to present our McIntire story in pure love and respect to those that went before. And just as our forefathers and mothers sailed the sea and continued moving westward, I promise to continue tackling the wild WordPress website wolf and live up to our Clan motto of being
“Brave, Loyal and Independent”!
